UITP will hold its 7^th International Bus Conference in Istanbul, Turkey, on 18-20 April 2012 in collaboration with TOHOB, the Turkish Association of Private Buses, and IETT, the General Directorate for Istanbul Buses, and in conjunction with the international exhibition Busworld Turkey.

Organised by public transport professionals for public transport professionals, UITP Bus Conferences are of world renown and constitute one of the most important international gatherings of bus professionals in the world. With its unique focus on the field of bus transport, the International Bus Conference showcases best practices and enables bus professionals and public transport decisionmakers from around the world to exchange experiences. With the forward-looking public transport sector strategy PTx2 (Vienna 2009), UITP has set out the ambition to double public transport’s market share worldwide by 2025. That buses have a role to play, and that the world’s cities have to ‘Think Bus’, is obvious, but the Conference will examine the central question of whether it is possible to accommodate cost-efficient solutions whilst increasing the attractiveness of public transport (how to attract passengers onto buses). From a political point of view, including emotional aspects and enhancing the system approach (efficient bus systems) are major objectives at European and global level. UITP and the UITP Bus Committee share these objectives, which are key elements of the PTx2 strategy.
